As of 2026, NEST is a 21+ event
The reason for this is alcohol. NEST has always been alcohol friendly, and many people love hosting room parties, which is awesome. However, it is also a huge liability to have the possibility of under 21’s join in on those parties, and it’s just not possible to police that in a way that we as an org feel comfortable about.
In recent years, NEST has not had very many people under 21 in attendance. Additionally, with the direction the internet has gone in allowing for community to foster, we feel okay with enacting this policy and alleviating this liability for us.
Our policy on alcohol in public has not changed:
- There is no alcohol permitted in any of the public play rooms/NEST rooms.
- NEST does not provide alcohol services.
- Do not bring large bottles of alcohol down to the lobby to share; keep these to hotel rooms.
The NEST Discord is still 18+, and is a good way to begin building connections with people for an eventual NEST attendance.
