Hysterical Literature (NEST Version)
Hysterical Literature is a video art series by NYC-based photographer and filmmaker Clayton Cubitt. It explores feminism, mind/body dualism, distraction portraiture, and the contrast between culture and sexuality by having participants read a piece of work while being pleasured. (It’s also just really fun to watch.)
You can view the original series here: https://www.hystericalliterature.com/sessions
NEST’s version is similar, but instead of pleasure, it’s tickling!
Come participate in story time and have a turn in the hot seat, or enjoy a riveting story (if you’re able to understand anything the reader says amidst the laughter). Bring your favorite books, short stories, poems, fan fictions, dictionary entries, recipes, or fortune cookie fortunes and enjoy some hysterical literature!
We’ll have a sign-up sheet during the event where people can sign up ahead of time to participate, or we’ll take on-the-fly participation. Although tickling is the focus, if everyone involved in the scene is okay with it, tickling & pleasure is acceptable (just keep in mind our play room rules!)
It helps to have your tickler(s) lined up beforehand, but if you make a snap decision to read something and don’t have a tickler(s) lined up, we’ll find some help! (of course, you get the final say on if you are okay with the people chosen get to tickle you, where, and how intensely)
