Hotel
Information about the NEST hotel is only given to registered guests, after they have signed the requisite paperwork.
Once you get the hotel information, do not share it with anyone. Ever.
We also ask that you do not go into detail about the areas nearby the hotel when you’re talking about it in chats. What restaurants or shops are nearby, what the closest landmarks are, etc. The more information you give about the general area, the more possible it is for people to put the details together and zero in on the location.
Also don’t give information about past locations. You never know when we may go back to a hotel, and phrases like “It’s the same location as last year”, or “It’s the place we were at 6 years ago” can be too precise.
Why the secrecy?
NEST attendees need, deserve, and value their privacy. We don’t need or want banned people showing up. We don’t want someone’s stalker to show up. We don’t want someone’s ex to show up. We don’t want someone’s employer to show up. You never know who is listening to your voice chat or reading your posts, and you have no control over what they do with the information that you just gave them.
NEST collects extremely private information that is only visible to a very limited number of staff. We safeguard this information and take this job very seriously. We prohibit photography so that nobody’s face ends up online and someone gets outed. However we cannot protect attendees from the outside world when people share the location of the hotel.
If anyone asks you for the hotel information, do not share it with them. Even if you’re sure they’re registered, are going to register, have attended in the past, etc.
So what do I say?
This is the only public information that can be shared about the NEST location.
- It is in the general Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area.
- Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is the closest airport.
That. Is. It. If anyone wants to know anything more than that–even if you are absolutely sure they are registered–please send them to one of the NEST organizers to get more information.
Please help us help keep everyone as safe as possible. The fewer people know about the hotel details, the better off all attendees will be.
Thank you!
